Breakaway Magazine

If you are a teen guy, I suggest you check out Breakaway Magazine.
It's a sweet magazine with some sweet articles.

This quote from them made me laugh, but its true...

It’s also why most guys would rather be flogged, quartered and burned at the stake than face rejection.

HABITS

I really like how HSM does this.
Hang Time With God
Accountability With Another Believer
Bible Memorization
Involved In Church
Tithing
Studying Scripture

This makes it easy to see where I need to step it up. For example, I am bad at stink at memorizing the Bible. It's just something I need to practice more. Of course this isn't a get into heaven manual or anything like that, and definitely doesn't include everything, but it is a great start

Great Quote From This Morning

I was talking to my two "big sisters" Geri and Amy this morning about some stuff. And one of them was like "How can she not like you? You're a great catch!" And that made my day, cause I've never been called a "catch" before.

Palin?

John McCain is smart.
He picked a VP that is

  • Female
  • Alaskan
  • New
  • Tough
  • American
  • Conservative
I think that she will get more votes for McCain than Biden will for Obama.

whoa...

I haven't blogged in 6 days!

First week on school was good.
I've been really busy.
Two More reasons my school is awesome

  1. I can go to the Bible Institute 'during' school
  2. There is an IM Client on my classes.

Changes Part 2-8th grade

Tomorrow, I start my junior year of high school so I figured I'd continue with this series

8th Grade
I joined Strive and started getting to know people. I was a leader for mexico and took 3 classes at Biola Star.  I started going to the 'cool' 6:30 service... I was still quiet though. Didn't really do much...

Camp Review 1

This week at camp was  better than last year.
It was awesome that we just did camp. We didn't have to run it.
=)
It was also super fun because there was a ton of leaders in high school/college. This year we actually had time each day to hang out and just relax. (Take a shower, get a shake, laugh, etc...)

Pranks:
Stealing Phil's British Flag. (kinda bombed...)
Sneaking out to water balloon (More to come)

Yayyy

Feeling alot better!

ASUS decided to replace my computer instead of repairing it so I just got a brand new computer!!!

I'm back

Hey, i made it.
barely.
Most of the week was really fun.

Last night was a nightmare. 16 kids sent home sick from around 8ish through the morning.

I'm sick with something else. Hopefully just allergies/sleep depravation...

Civil Forum

The Civil Forum was really good. Obama was a smooth talker as usual, and McCain was funnier that I thought he would be.
I am a conservative, however, I have been rethinking alot of my positions.

I am still Pro-Life, however I think that Pro-life includes being against the death penalty...
I think illegal immigration  could be improved...

thought from irresistible revolution

What if the reason kids leave 'religion' is because its 2 easy? Kids want 2 do something heroic. That why they play video games and join the army. Why isn't the whole church teaching the Gospel that challenges you...

Book Recommendation...

Warning:This book will make you think, and will hopefully make you uncomfortable with how you are living.

The book is called Irresistible Revolution By Shane Claiborne.

It is about living as an ordinary radical. Living like Jesus. I've only read the first couple chapters and its super good. I was going along this thought process anyways, but this book kinda pushed me over the edge...

Junior Fall

I am super excited for this fall, because I am taking awesome classes.
Classes

  • Theatre Arts
  • Yearbook
  • English 11

  • Spanish(Maybe)
Clubs

  • Mocktrial!
  • NHS!
  • FCA!
So excited, cause this is my first year going to school and knowing people!

Clarification:At my school you take 3 or 4 condensed classes in the fall, and then take 3 or 4 different classes in the spring. Ergo, you have a full load.

Changes Part 1 4th-7th grade

After 4th grade, my parents started homeschooling me. I wasn't sure if I would like it. However, I loved it. In 6th grade, I went on my first mission trip to Mexico. One of the high lights of my childhood.

Then I started 7th grade. I was quiet and didn't really talk much. I took High School Spanish 1 at Biola star. I went to the 8 o'clock and then the 9 o'clock service at church.

8th grade to come next...

I got tickets to the Presidential Civil Forum

I'm in Tent 3.
I plan to give John McCain a standing ovation...

Change... Intro

Since this fall, I have been meaning to write a post about how I've changed over the last couple years. The reason I never have is because I simply keep changing. So I am going to start tomorrow, and we'll see where it goes.

-The OC Josh

Are you serious?

Adults should not do somethings in public.
These include
  • Drinking milk at a fancy restaurant
  • Using Heelys
And yet I see people doing these things...

The Olympics

haven't really gotten to watch that much. There is just so much. However, I did discover the sport of handball. It looks like something I could excel in. It is  a mix between lacrosse and soccer, except you use your hands.

The War You Haven't Heard About

Chances are you've probably never heard of the country of Georgia.
It is a small European country.

Recently, it has escalated tensions with Russia.
Georgia wants Russian soldiers out of its borders so it can be a full-fledged ally of NATO and the US.

Russia has been supporting Pro-russian rebels in south Georgia.
Georgia decided to act against these rebels.
Consequently, it shot down multiple Russian fighter jets.
There have also been reports that Russia has bombed two towns in Georgia.

This is one step closer to the War of Gog And Magog...

Bomb Threat In Rancho Santa Margarita: Personal Stories

Today when I was riding home, I saw 3 fire trucks staged, didn't think anything of it. So then, as we're driving out we see this WHOLE street cordoned off. And everyone from the FBI Bomb tech, to the Fire Support crews.
Eventually, the come down to another street near me closer to their objective.

I walked down close to the robot and everything before they put the police line up. But I didn't have my camera. =(

The put the police line up and long story short found the stuff and diffused it.

It's common knowledge that the house is a druggie house with parolees.
So this smart guy, decides to bury some explosives in the back hill. The same hill neighborhood kids run around on. So scary. Especially, when the news conference guy says that it could cause major damage to 4 or 5 houses. Wayyy too close for comfort

Post any questions.

Let's Break It Down

One of my favorite lyrics:

The art of losing myself
In bringing you praise
The Art
There aren't just simple steps to follow to follow Christ. It's an art form.

Losing Myself
You have to lose yourself. Not just like coming in 2nd. Dead last. Everything that you believed in, your thoughts, attitude, everything that isn't honoring God

In Bringing You Praise
You have to bring it. He won't take it. He's God,  The Only One who deserves our praise.

This has made me think about something J-Petty said at the conference.
Something like "Those stories about people living in their cars shouldn't be exemptions, but the norm."
Honestly, we do have to be in the world and interacting, but what is giving you praise instead of God?
Or what are you doing for yourself instead of others?

Just some thing I'm thinking about and working on.

Reflection

People laugh when they are hurting.
If you had been with our family during the last two days, you would have seen us laugh a ton.
Not cause we felt like it, but cause its the easiest way to mask our pain.

I'm Emo(tional)

So since my last post,  my day has gone down the drain.

Why?
We had to put my dog down.
='(
Over the past week, his breathing has become labored, he was vomiting on a regular basis, his energy drastically dropped, his stomach was hardening, and today he couldn't walk...

Pray for me and my family.

On a positive note, I had a really good conversation with J-Petty.
